It seems the wiki idea is still going strong, this time you can get a page for only 25 cents. The system is the same as previous incarnations of paid wikis including the million dollar wiki, the million euro wiki and the five dollar wiki.
Koen a 15 year old blogger has come up with an idea that is a cross between a tag page and selling contextual links. He has created a standard page with an article on it and is offering every word on that page for sale at 75 cents a letter.
It looks like there is a new million wiki this time it's a five dollar wiki. This time rather than getting a page on a wiki for 100 dollars you get it for 5 dollars. The ideas being the site is that people are more likely to buy a page for 5 dollars rather than 100.
In a shock move the owners Million Euro Wiki have decided to sell due to personal reasons. This move has angered many who have already bought a page on the wiki and are concerned the site will not get the continuing publicity and growth it had at the start.
It looks like wiki style pages a la MillionDollarWiki and MillionEuroWiki are the new MillionDollarHomepage. Collin LaHay of WordHugger is the new kid on the block both metaphorically and physically as he is only 17.
It didn't take long for the million dollar wiki clones to appear. The first one to appear is the Million Euro wiki which makes no bones about being an almost exact copy of the original.
Brian Clark is a man on a mission. He has recently launched a new Million Dollar Homepage clone called the 10k give away and purports to be giving away $10,000USD once the page is sold out which he reckons will be in a few months.
As the buzz builds around the Million Dollar Wiki site people are speculating whether or not the site will fizzle out ...
We've seen the Million dollar homepage (pixel page), tag pages and bid directories so what's next. Well Graham Langdon a university student in Connecticut has come up with the Million Dollar Wiki (Milliondollarwiki.com). It's a Wiki like Wikipedia except you pay to have your own page.
It was back in 2005 that the pixel page phenomena really took off with Alex Tew's Million dollar homepage. Since then the pixel ad industry has changed. To the surprise of many the whole pixel advertising arena is still with us but there has been a few changes.
When the Million Dollar Homepage launched it was unique and captured the mediaís interest. As a result this generated lots of traffic to the site and where thereís traffic advertising usually follows.
The story starts with Alex Tew who was looking for a way to make enough money to support him whilst at university. It didnít take long for him to come up with the million Dollar homepage. The idea was that a page of one million pixels divided into 10 by 10 pixel blocks would be sold off at 100 dollars at a time.
The Milliondollarhomepage phenomenon started with Alex Tew and his Milliondollarhomepage website. The site was picked by the press and was soon on national television. Alex experienced a phenomenal amount of traffic to his site and in less than 5 short months managed to sell his entire pixel advertising inventory pocketing him a cool one million dollars.
