Interview with Billionchancewebpage.

First of please introduce yourself and your site to our readers?

I am a 19 year old Singaporean. I am currently studying in a polytechnic (High School equivalent if I am not wrong). I will be graduating this year March and will be drafted into National Service soon after that.

Most people have been inspired by the Million Dollar Homepage, where did you get your inspiration from?

Well, I must admit that like many others, I got the idea from the Million Dollar Homepage (come on, who didn't).

What software do you use to run your pixel page and why did you choose it?

My webpage uses PHP for coding purposes and MySQL database for storing of ads.

What makes your site different or special, what angle have you taken for your Pixel page?

Well, the first time I saw MDH, like everyone else, I said, why didn't I think of it! Not very long later (5 seconds on a google search), I found out that there were literally hundreds of similar sites out there. I knew I didn't want to totally rip the idea off, I think I am a pretty good barnstormer too :) That is when I knew I wanted to make something different, that is when I came up with chances.

Since the average person who visits the MDH clicks on only a few ads, why not just show them a few ads?! So you simply pay for chances instead of worrying about what image to upload so the user sees you, someone who bought 100 pixels isn’t going to get more traffic then your 200 pixels just because they have a good image uploaded. With chances, you get what you pay for.

The original pixel page generated traffic mainly through viral marketing mainly spawned by media interest, how do you generate traffic to your site?

Well, I will spend the initial income (at least 80% of it) on advertising my webpage, be it Google ads or banner ads. Yes I know, kind of ironic to make people click on ads to view more ads, but it works. That person may just tell his/her friend about an interesting page he/she saw and viola.

What do you offer potential advertisers, how much do you charge and how much traffic do you envisage an advertiser could generate by advertising with you?

1 Cent / Chance, no minimum. That is correct. Unlike Pixel advertising, 1 pixel is not going to do anything. At Chance advertising (or at least that is what I like to call it), there is this "Last Chance" on the webpage, where the latest purchase gets its ad there every single time. Until another purchase is made. For 1 cent! I can make it happen :D.

Currently the top 5 Alexa ranked pixel sites enjoy a lot of interest from the public. How long do you think this will last, is there a long term future for pixel pages?

For Pixel Pages, once sold out, interest rate is going to drop (that includes the official Million Dollar Homepage). The official page will however most definitely survive longer then the others due to a lot of links which will stay alive and will be new to some of the less informed.

Besides your own pixel page, which other pixel page do you secretly admire and why?

Well besides my Chance Page ;). I admire the official homepage and also those that got their idea from it similar to my own. I don't really admire people who earn money by ripping off ideas. At least give it a new coat of paint! Come on!
