Interview with DollarPix.

First of please introduce yourself and your site to our readers?

We are just a couple of guys who have been pouring our heart and soul into the Internet for many years now. We always have our ear to the ground trying to keep up with the web. We have several other sites that we created and still manage, and although building these sites are not our primary vocations, we have always put 100% into our Internet adventures. We honestly are not involved in the Internet fully for the money and have always tried to keep other peoples interest at heart and step-up our sites with newer, more creative, and more user-friendly features. We are hoping that one day things will fall into place, and our simple yet progressive ideas will pay off.

Most people have been inspired by the Million Dollar Homepage, where did you get your inspiration from?

We did get our inspiration from the original idea and believe we all owe Alex credit for his ingenious creation. The idea is shear creative madness!

What makes your site different or special, what angle have you taken for your Pixel page?

Our site is different from all others for the following reasons: The fact that our advertisers can alter their ad and link at any time is a major plus. Our 150 X 150 Pixel Preview provides a clever 'window' into our grid, and is situated in a place that doesn't interfere with ones viewing of ads. Our Top 20 and banner ads allow our top advertisers more exposure and also increase their click-through ratios.

We are trying 1,2, and 3 year advertising partnerships because we think that will keep our site fresh, current, and able to adapt to changes in the industry. We think that the sites which lock advertisers in for 5 years will eventually get stale and trite. Lastly we are trying to give back to the community by donating a larger percentage of sales than any other site we have seen. As we come up with other ideas that will aid our advertiser’s exposure our site will continue to be updated. Our advertisers get all this for less of an expense than on the majority of competitor sites.

The original pixel page generated traffic mainly through viral marketing mainly spawned by media interest, how do you generate traffic to your site?

We plan on using word of mouth and media as do many others but we believe that is just not enough. Therefore, we are currently one of the top advertisers on Google, AOL and Yahoo and our site comes up #2 of the natural results on sites like Google. We are really working hard to drive traffic to our ads, and to make this a viable advertising medium for everybody.

What do you offer potential advertisers, how much do you charge and how much traffic do you envisage an advertiser could generate by advertising with you?

We believe that we offer more to our advertisers than others do. As mentioned above we have created a site full of enhanced and one-of-a-kind features. Our 150 X 150 Pixel Preview, Banner Ads, Top 20, Full Pixel List, and etc. gives our advertisers more dynamic exposure, which ultimately results in increased click-through rates and higher traffic volumes for their websites and online businesses. We offer a 1 Year Membership for $50, 2 Year Membership for $62.50, and a 3 Year Membership for $75. DollarPix.com is affordable and will work hard to maximize your online exposure. There is really no limit to how much traffic our site could deliver for each advertiser.

Currently the top 5 Alexa ranked pixel sites enjoy a lot of interest from the public. How long do you think this will last, is there a long term future for pixel pages?

We believe that the Alexa top five are getting the brunt of the exposure now, but the key word is 'now'. Shortly, other sites that have the best interest of the advertiser at heart (and not their own) will succeed. DollarPix.com has the vision to see the true potential, legitimacy, and longevity of the pixel ad revolution. We truly believe that pixel advertising is an incredible, viable resource for everyone, which means that our site will continue to operate and grow for the long-haul, well beyond other sites which claim they will exist for up to five years or for as long as they can remain.

Your pixel ad's life is safe with us, and we plan on making a small pixel ad go a long way. This is obviously just our biased opinion but we feel that the gimmicky sites are not what people are looking for long term (i.e. we are not looking for people to buy us beers, buy us cars, etc, etc), and so we have tried to incorporate as much professionalism as possible into DollarPix so that people will view us as a site that actually cares about our advertisers, and this will keep us alive long into the future.

Thanks for your time in answering these questions. Before you go are there any comments you want to impart to our pixel hungry readership?

As stated before we admire the original site because of Alex's creative sense. He deserves to be the first successful pixel advertising site out there, and the rest is up for grabs. Give DollarPix.com a try and we will prove that we make a small ad go a long way!
