Interview with eenmiljoeneurohomepage.

First of please introduce yourself and your site to our readers?

My name is Patrick, 34 year old Dutch guy and pixel site has been online since 17 September 2005. www.eenmiljoeneurohomepage.nl has a premium and a free zone.

Most people have been inspired by the Million Dollar Homepage, where did you get your inspiration from?

My inspiration is also by the milliondollarhomepage, i saw the site when Alex Tew has only sold 1500 pixels and immediately thought: wow, brilliant idea, there’s more in it.

What software do you use to run your pixel page and why did you choose it?

I use Dreamweaver, an ftp-program and my e-mail program to run it. I choose these because these are the programs I know well.

What makes your site different or special, what angle have you taken for your Pixel page?

First off all, my site can’t make 1 million euro. 700.000 pixels are free and the other 300.000 pixels can be bought for 0,50 € each. If the premium zone is full, I will give away 10.000 € to a owner of a pixel block in the premium zone. I have made the page personally without help or script. My own script is half-automatic.

The original pixel page generated traffic mainly through viral marketing mainly spawned by media interest, how do you generate traffic to your site?

I’ll generate traffic because of the free pixels. After 30 days the owners of a free pixel block have to come back to submit their pixels again. And, because I was one of the first "copy-cats", especially in Holland, I’m interviewed already by newspapers, magazines and the journal.

What do you offer potential advertisers, how much do you charge and how much traffic do you envisage an advertiser could generate by advertising with you?

I offer a 5 years advertisement for 50 euro per 10x10 pixel block, so that’s 10 euro a year. My Google page rank is 4/10 but I can’t do any announcement about the traffic simply because you never know what’s in the future.

Currently the top 5 Alexa ranked pixel sites enjoy a lot of interest from the public. How long do you think this will last, is there a long term future for pixel pages?

Internet is all about clicking and not watching as by example on a TV. So I think there’s definitely a long term future for pixel pages.

Besides your own pixel page, which other pixel page do you secretly admire and why?

Only the original, simply brilliant.

Only one thing. I made my own pixel page because of the fact I have already a huge debt because of a study. When I saw Alex Tew did it to prevent for a huge study debt, I decided to make my own pixel page in a few seconds.
