First of please introduce yourself and your site to our readers?
My name is Phil McNally of www.ferraribillboard.com.
Most people have been inspired by the Million Dollar Homepage, where did you get your inspiration from?
Of course the MDHP was the initial inspiration but I worked hard to come up with an original adoption of the concept that would be high profile and a lot of fun.
What software do you use to run your pixel page and why did you choose it?
Dreamweaver to build the site and Maxon Cinema 4D to produce the 3D renderings of the car. They are both very artist friendly.
What makes your site different or special, what angle have you taken for your Pixel page?
I wanted to combine the pixel concept with the real world. I plan to take a real Ferrari wrapped in the web ads on a tour of the USA.
The original pixel page generated traffic mainly through viral marketing mainly spawned by media interest, how do you generate traffic to your site?
It is the same idea. The idea has to generate interest in itself to be successful. Everyone loves a Ferrari story and I am just getting started.
What do you offer potential advertisers, how much do you charge and how much traffic do you envisage an advertiser could generate by advertising with you?
$25 per square inch on the Ferrari is my price. That square inch of Ferrari advertising is also represented on the homepage pixel grid as a 5 x 5 square. We have all seen the traffic possible with the MDHP, but my site will have great TV potential once it is on the tour to extend the publicity to the website.
Currently the top 5 Alexa ranked pixel sites enjoy a lot of interest from the public. How long do you think this will last, is there a long term future for pixel pages?
A good idea is a good idea. To be successful you have to be better than what went before. I think www.ferraribillboard.com has that extra element..
Besides your own pixel page, which other pixel page do you secretly admire and why?
I have not seen any others with real innovation. I am aware of the smash my viper site as we are both car related but I don’t enjoy the destructive idea.
Thanks for your time in answering these questions. Before you go are there any comments you want to impart to our pixel hungry readership?
MDHP has been a great inspiration. It shows what is possible with a great idea and motivation. The internet allows us all to act on our ideas and get them out into the world. What could be more exciting than that.
Come and buy some Ferrari advertising ;-)
Cheers...Phil
