Interview with MillionDollarPixy.

First of please introduce yourself and your site to our readers?

My name is Alan Espasandin. I live in Vancouver Washington where I send my 3 children to private school. My site is www.milliondollarpixy.com I decided to have a kids safe site since it is for my children that I started this venture.

Most people have been inspired by the Million Dollar Homepage, where did you get your inspiration from?

I was inspired by www.milliondollarstate.com and I actually purchased a large property from them. I figure that traffic from site like ours will come in spikes so I want to be in a good position. Let's face it, these sites are a fad, but they will last with people wanting to "explore" the sites....it's kind of like treasure hunting.

What software do you use to run your pixel page and why did you choose it?

I purchased a script that is self contained.

What makes your site different or special, what angle have you taken for your Pixel page?

My site is "kids safe" so I think it will be set apart from sites that have such a variety of advertisers.

The original pixel page generated traffic mainly through viral marketing mainly spawned by media interest, how do you generate traffic to your site?

By selling pixels on ebay, search engine submission I do myself and I will be doing press releases as well.

What do you offer potential advertisers, how much do you charge and how much traffic do you envisage an advertiser could generate by advertising with you?

My potential advertisers are webmasters with sites that cater to children, youth or their families. The site should offer services, products, travel etc.. that appeals to families and kids. Entertainment for kids should be big on my site. I charge $1 per pixel and as for traffic....I think my advertisers will see huge spikes in traffic as I do press releases.

Currently the top 5 Alexa ranked pixel sites enjoy a lot of interest from the public. How long do you think this will last, is there a long term future for pixel pages?

Well, like most fads their life span is usually 9-18 months, however I think there will be a rebirth in the near future that will make this venue spike again. Now is the right time to get on the train.

Besides your own pixel page, which other pixel page do you secretly admire and why?

Milliondollarstate.com I love it...tried to buy it but someone moved in and used the "buy it now" and got it for $15 grand...I cannot afford that...otherwise why would I be running a pixel site?

Thanks for your time in answering these questions. Before you go are there any comments you want to impart to our pixel hungry readership?

Yes, find a page with a valid cause and help them out by spreading the word to friends and co-workers. Pixels do NOT have to link to a site...someone could buy a pixel that just says "Hi, from Alan Espasandin in Vancouver, WA" Then challenge your friends to find your message on the net! The possibilities are endless.
