Interview with Pixelmyauto.

First of please introduce yourself and your site to our readers?

My name is Roy Simon. I'm an avid computer user although not on a professional basis. I am also a photo buff and have been combining the two lately in transferring all my home movies ,from when my children were young, onto DVD disk. Some of the first videos are on the full size VHS tapes. This is my first venture into the Internet Web business area.

Most people have been inspired by the Million Dollar Homepage, where did you get your inspiration from?

My inspiration came when I saw the TV commentary on the Million Dollar Homepage. I have taken the idea into a more specialized format, aiming at the auto enthusiast market.

What software do you use to run your pixel page and why did you choose it?

I am using the Million Pixel Script from texmedia. There is a link to it at the bottom of the grid on my site. This script is mostly windows based with forms to set website info. I tried others but the learning curve in PHP script writing was too daunting and time consuming.

What makes your site different or special, what angle have you taken for your Pixel page?

As I mentioned above I am focusing on the auto enthusiast market to eliminate the clutter and confusion of the general anything goes Pixel Pages.

The original pixel page generated traffic mainly through viral marketing mainly spawned by media interest, how do you generate traffic to your site?

I use Google adwords and Google adsense as well as personal contacts such as this submission to you. Linking to other sites is where I see the most potential.

What do you offer potential advertisers, how much do you charge and how much traffic do you envisage an advertiser could generate by advertising with you?

My site has multiple pages for different automobiles. Each page has Premium pixels at $5.00 per 10x10 block, which means 5 cents per pixel. There is also a free section on each page for added flexibility. The traffic potential is tremendous with the surging internet development.

Currently the top 5 Alexa ranked pixel sites enjoy a lot of interest from the public. How long do you think this will last, is there a long term future for pixel pages?

I think that with focused Pixel sites the Pixel Page type of advertising will continue and become an accepted form of search medium. Current general advert sites will become less attractive as people searching the net want quick answers and won't stay and browse for long.

Besides your own pixel page, which other pixel page do you secretly admire and why?

One of the ones I like is www.nationalpixels.

Thanks for your time in answering these questions. Before you go are there any comments you want to impart to our pixel hungry readership?

Thanks again. I think sites such as yours are great for collecting links to pixel sites, and connecting them in one area, so people who are doing searches can find what they are looking for.
