Interview with Poundhomepage.

First of please introduce yourself and your site to our readers?

I'm Les and I've recently launched the poundhomepage.co.uk.

Most people have been inspired by the Million Dollar Homepage, where did you get your inspiration from?

A friend told me to have a look into Pixel sites after the story of Alex Tew appeared on the BBC website.

What software do you use to run your pixel page and why did you choose it?

We only use basic web editing software and everything is done manually. I prefer this approach with all my websites.

What makes your site different or special, what angle have you taken for your Pixel page?

The initial thinking was to get the site up and running while there is still media attention about these sites. Fortunately I work with a very good designer who seems to make the simplest things look great.

The original pixel page generated traffic mainly through viral marketing mainly spawned by media interest, how do you generate traffic to your site?

I've contacted many of the other pixel sites and left messages on forums etc. Now we intend to look into viral marketing.

What do you offer potential advertisers, how much do you charge and how much traffic do you envisage an advertiser could generate by advertising with you?

We charge 1 uk penny per pixel with a minimum order of £1. We plan a network of sites working around a similar theme - million.poundhomepage.co.uk and others that we'd like to keep quiet for now. Once these are all moving we believe we'll see some seriously high traffic so now would be a good time to get onboard - poundhomepage.co.uk will be at the centre of everything.

Currently the top 5 Alexa ranked pixel sites enjoy a lot of interest from the public. How long do you think this will last, is there a long term future for pixel pages?

I think the purely pixel selling pages will begin to struggle soon, but pixel sites will evolve and develop into more useful things that will stay around for a very long time.

Besides your own pixel page, which other pixel page do you secretly admire and why?

You have to admire the pioneer pixel site, Alex Tew's Million Dollar Homepage. The initial idea, the nice artwork, the lively community, the regular updates - it's got everything. In close second is the Million Dollar Booty, but that's just thanks to that booty!

Thanks for your time in answering these questions. Before you go are there any comments you want to impart to our pixel hungry readership?

I've enjoyed the community spirit from the pixel pages and supporters - it's nice to see so many people working together. Pixel marketing is something I'm a big fan of as it's such a harmless income generator, no-one is being duped into anything they don't want and so far I've not received any spam mail on the subject (hope it stays that way!).
