It looks like wiki style pages a la MillionDollarWiki and MillionEuroWiki are the new MillionDollarHomepage. Collin LaHay of WordHugger is the new kid on the block both metaphorically and physically as he is only 17.
You can buy a word for $60 and then create a page around that word. Rather than a wiki Word Hugger terms itself as a micro investment site. The site does not look like a wiki site but the end result of what you are buying and creating is the same. It is also a lot more stylised and has a distinct web2.0 feel, check out the black and green.
Donation to Kiva
One major difference from other wiki's is that Collin is donating 50% of he profits to Kiva, a non profit organisation set up to lend money to people in the developing world. The main aim of the site is to raise money for Collin's college fund but it is admirable to see he is supporting a noble cause, I hope others follow his lead.
Win $100 with WordHugger
As the site is new a contest is being run where you can win $100. All you have to do is write about Word Hugger and a winner will be chosen at random after the hundredth word is sold.
Collin is both smart and ethical, true he is raising money for college but at the same time promoting a good cause. If every Million (x) page did the same the world would be a better place.
